To keep the fast track of innovations, as a 17 years old market leader company, Vortal is now completely redefining its approach to innovation and R&D, namely through:
Implementing a brand new 500m2 facility lab, state of the art workspace, fully adopted to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in an incubator-style;
Re-engineering of the R&D concept and the overall Innovation process in an open innovation concept and a multi-disciplinary environment;
Reinforce de R&D department with 30 new high talented personnel;
Recruit an R&D coach to oversee the entire development process of new products and programs in a start-up spirit, from the initial conception, experiment, redefine, testing and beta launching.
This position is a full-time, permanent position reporting directly to the CEO and based at our Head Office in Lisbon. You will coordinate and coach a growing innovation team and will be expected to share experiences, draw on them for support and equally provide support where needed.
You will be responsible for overseeing the entire development process of new products and programs within the company, from the initial conception, planning, development, testing and beta launching, to see the big picture as you will have to envision projects from start to finish.
Actively contribute to a new intrapreneurial culture with a focus on innovation and design thinking;
Act as a coacher for design sprints, innovation challenges and creativity workshops;
Understand key business drivers relevant to the company;
Scan the digital landscape, understand emerging technologies and contextualize for our business application;
Strategize digital Initiatives with Business Group Heads/Functional Heads for rolling a medium-term plan;
Monitor performance against programmatic and operational targets, aggregating, analysing and evaluating overall portfolio and provide substantive feedback to strengthen its quality and relevance, as well as their alignment with corporate strategies;
keep track of all the costs related to the creation of new products;
Collaborate strongly with direct and indirect sales teams and solution partners.
A coaching leadership and managerial style, as opposed to hierarchical, and the ability to communicate effectively with millennials and IT professionals and all sort of other professionals, that periodically join the projects, in a creative chaos environment;
A strong sense of creativity for thinking about new product ideas and solving problems creatively;
Min. 5 years management experience working in a start-up’s incubator environment and/or multinational and large corporates in driving parallel digital initiatives;
Proven track record of program management from ideation to implementation of business transformation through digitalization;
To have a keen ability to pay attention to details, as ultimately needs to closely supervise every step of the development process for new products;
Have breadth of knowledge across and depth in key enabling digital technologies;
Business savvy and strategic thinking: big picture orientation and conceptualization of ideas, conceiving effective strategies to drive growth and revenue generation;
Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
